Another Great Hike!

Muddy and Happy!

Yesterday we had an awesome day hiking with a great group of friends! We started at the top of very large ridge / mountain and hiked down to the ocean! We hiked through muddy terrain, up and down hills and along ridges and cliffs. We were extremely muddy at the end! To our left was a valley and to our right was the ocean! Extremely beautiful! We love you Maui!

Here are a few pictures from our day....

Great friends! We wouldn't be surviving without them!

At the top of the hike... Now we are about to start hiking down to the ocean!

Finally... a new blog

So there is no excuse as to why I haven't updated our blog in so long. I have plenty of time on my hands and plenty to write about. This will just have to be a great summary of what has been happening here lately...

Laura's Visit

Since we last met we have had several visitors. Our first visitor was my wonderful friend Laura! She came and spent Thanksgiving with us. We had such an awesome time! It was a perfect combination of relaxation and activities! Of course there was tons of beach time and I'm pretty sure one day we laid out for roughly six hours. (Come and visit us and this could be you!) We also spent one day driving the Road to Hana and had several snorkeling adventures. We enjoyed a girl's night at a luau and watched a beautiful sunset on top of Haleakala. One of the most memorable parts of the trip was seeing whales for the first time. We went on a boating excursion and followed two whales all throughout the ocean. They are so beautiful and so massive! It was truly incredible! Of course when it came time to say good bye there was a large amount of tears! It is so hard to say good bye to such a sweet friend! But I know we will see each other soon!

Man Date

About 10 days after Laura left our friends Ryan and Jen arrived. They were only here for 2 and half days but we had a great time. They were visiting her brother on Oahu and flew over to see us! We laughed so hard at Jeremy and Ryan the whole time they were together. We kept on saying they were on a man date! Literally they were inseparable. Snorkeling, throwing the football, watching the sunset, going on hikes. It was so awesome to see them both having such a great time together! Jen and I had a great visit too! We did tons of girl talking and enjoyed just chill'in on the beach! Vacationing with Ryan and Jen has become a bi-annual event so who knows where we will be vacationing again in a few years! We were so blessed by our time with them!

Christmas

And now that brings us to Christmas! It is so weird that it is Christmas and I am sitting here typing with my hair in a pony tail, and shorts and a tank top on! With that being said though it does feel like Christmas. We have a tree up and have several holiday things planned. Jeremy has the 23rd, 24th, and 25th off of work and that is just a HUGE praise! He has been working so much and for him to have those days off is a God thing. We are so grateful. We will be spending Christmas with great friends and will also have some time to ourselves. This will be our first Christmas as a married couple! Also, I am very excited because I will coming home for a visit Dec. 26th - Jan. 4th!

Merry Christmas

All in all things are going good. My emotions are starting to settle down quite a bit and we are getting more accustomed to Jeremy's work schedule. Time is just flying by! We celebrated 7 months together on Dec. 14th. 7 months!!! Where has time gone!? It feels like yesterday we were with you all at Harmony Chapel celebrating our wedding and now 7 months later we are in Maui! What a blessed and crazy life! We have found some much comfort in God's promises that our life is His and He is faithful where we are. Christ has truly been faithful to us here!

Missing each of you so much today as I write! Love you all!!!

Halloween and Haleakala Sunset

Halloween Week has been a great week! We have been carving pumpkins with Stacie and Jeff, went and saw the sunset at Haleakala, Jeremy tried scuba diving, and we celebrated Halloween night with a great group of friends and food!

Haleakala Sunset
Haleakala sunset was so BEAUTIFUL! My description will not do it justice but I will try. Haleakala is the highest peak on Maui. When you get to the very top you are literally looking down at clouds. It is hard to dress for the sunset. Kihei is hot and then you have to prepare to be freezing cold. As you start to ascend up the mountain you can feel the temperature changing and you start to pack on the clothes. Sometimes during the winter there is actually snow on the crater. At the top we took tons of pictures and enjoyed the view.

Catching Up!

So I haven't posted anything in a while and wanted to catch everyone up on some fun things we have been doing...

Last Thursday we went on a night hike. We started at the top of a ridge and hiked down to the ocean. We hiked though tress and followed this skinny little trail. As we got closer to the ocean we had to use ropes to scale down the side of the rocks and the cliff. It was so awesome! By the time we got to the  bottom it was dark and we were surrounded by the ocean! We kept on walking and came to a sea cave. Of course all the guys wanted to go into water! I had no interest in going in the dark ocean water, and despite my concerns of a shark attack or being swept out to sea Jeremy still insisted on following the rest of the guys into the water. The waves and current were also huge. As the guys got into the water and swam towards the cave all we could see where their flashlights! At this point me and my friend Amber realized that the surf was raising and dropping the guys about four to five feet! So crazy!

After the water, we watched the moon rise and then began our ascent back up the ridge. As we were climbing / walking up the ridge we saw a MOON BOW! It was the most incredible thing I had ever seen at night. We saw it go from one valley to the next and it was all white! Instead of being lit up by the sun and having tons of colors, this bow was lit by the moon and completely white!

We ended the night at Paia Fish Market for some yummy fish and fries!!!

Our next adventure was paddle boarding. Jeremy and I paddled boarded for literally four hours! It was so incredible! As we boarded there were several sea turtles all around us! Paddle boarding is by far our favorite thing to do! We ended that day by watching the Rangers game and enjoying fries and soda!

Yesterday, we went to a pumpkin patch! It was upcountry and cool. We really enjoying driving up into the mountains because it is about 15 degrees cooler than Kihei. So it made it feel like fall! We got four pumpkins and are excited to decorate them! Hope you enjoy the pictures!!!

Look behind the pumpkins!!! You can see the mountains and the ocean.
