Why Maui?

The Lord had said to Abram, "Go from your country, your people, and your father's household to the land I will show you." (Genesis 12:1)

This command from the Lord to Abram has been our encouragement in our move to Maui. As we began our move here we felt that without a doubt this is where the Lord wanted us in this season of life. We knew this is where He wanted us, but we were scared to go and asked God a lot of questions. Genesis 12:4 says that Abram went as the Lord had told him to. No questions asked. It is unfathomable to me to understand Abram's commitment to the Lord. It doesn't say that Abram asked God why, or tried to talk to him out of it. It says that, “He went just as the Lord had told him, gathering his possession they had, his wife and some of the people that were in the land he lived.”

These verses have been an encouragement for Jeremy and I as we went just as the Lord had asked us to do. Naturally, our leaving involved tons of tears, broken hearts, but also glimmers of hope that the Lord had a plan for Jeremy and me. We have been so blessed with so many encouraging phone calls and people to support us. God has also provided a great church already, wonderful friends, and neat opportunities to get involved here in Maui. We hope you enjoy hearing about our time in Maui! We already have tons of stories to share!!!

  1. Candise,

I have been wondering why you two moved to Hawaii...what an incredible testimony of how true and completely relevant God's Word is for us and our daily lives. Reading God's Command and your willingness to follow that Command, no matter how crazy it sounded, brought tears to my eyes. I know that the Lord's Favor is on you. I am excited to continue to read and see how He provides and encourages you on this incredible adventure He has sent you on. :)
